This game was not badly played by any means, but it just didn't seem to have that much excitement. GH grabbed an early lead, and just held onto it for the entire game. The game had 28 base runners, but only 8 of those base runners reached base via a hit. There were 12 walks, 4 infield errors, 3 fielder's choices, and wild pitch strikeout to account for the other 20 runners. The 3 great defensive plays, were all made by Panther Creek, diving catches in the outfield by Gray Mazzone and J.T. Primm (to rob Adam Boghosian and Eric Brady of doubles), and the diving stop and throw at 3rd by Stephan Guy (to rob Joe Pistacchio of probably a double). All those were hard hard hits.
The hardest hit of the game happened with the second batter, as Brady ripped a 2-run home run to left, scoring Grant Shambley who led off with a walk - of course. The other GH hits were - a single past 3rd by Max Povse, a single by Shambley, and a triple to right center by David Josam - and that's it. Shambley's hit resulted in a run, when he scored on the throwing error from the PC SS on a grounder hit by Pistacchio - that happened in the 3rd inning, making the score 3-1 GH. GH made it 4-1 in the 4th, after walks to Nolan Poythress, Boghosian, and Anthony Colantino - Josam grounded out to 2nd to score Poythress from 3rd. The last GH run was just as exciting !!! - as Pistacchio walked (stop the presses !!!), stole 2nd, advanced to 3rd on a ground out, and scored on an error by the SS as he couldn't field the grounder off Poythress' bat.
Max Povse started for GH, and had a good, but kind of erratic performance tonight. He pitched 6 innings, had 9 strikeouts, but also 7 walks, and allowed 3 singles and a double. Weird was that Max really dominated several left handed hitters with his curveball, yet couldn't throw that same curveball for strikes against right handed batters ??? Still very few balls were hit hard, and Povse was able to get the key strikeout when he really needed it. He gave up a run in the 1st, and the 5th, the only innings he allowed a hit in, actually 2 hits in both those innings. Boghosian pitched the 7th to get the save, and Povse moves to 3-0 on the year with the win.
Max Povse wins and moves to 3-0

In many ways, PC had the better of play tonight, had more base runners than GH (16-12), and had the 3 great defensive plays. But what gave GH the advantage was - the GH pitcher's 10 strikeouts to PC's 2, GH's 6 stolen bases to PC's 0, and GH's 2 errors came in less crucial situations than PC's 2 errors. GH moves to 3-0 conference, 7-1 overall.
