Green Hope vs Southeast Raleigh is rained out in 5th with Falcons up 5-0

Game time had threatening weather all around Southeast Raleigh high school, but sunny overhead. However, the game had to be called after 4 innings of play with Green Hope up 5-0, as the storm finally rolled in.

Starting pitchers Max Povse for Green Hope and Colin Tangherlini for Southeast Raleigh were both perfect for the first 3 innings. Povse had 7 strikeouts while Tangherlini had 2, and really nothing hit very hard against either pitcher.

Green Hope broke the game open in the 4th inning, Grant Shambley ledoff with a bunt single, as Shambley had to dive at first to beat the first baseman to the bag. That led to Will Yoder and Adam Boghosian both hitting sharp singles to load the bases with no outs. Joe Pistacchio walked to drive in the first run of the game, followed by Wesley Clark reaching on an error by the short stop for a second run, then a fielder's choice by David Josam to drive in a third run. After Josam stole second, Anthony Colantino singled to center to drive in 2 runs, Grren Hope up 5-0.

Daniel Sondag came in to pitch the bottom of the 4th inning, gave up a single, but then picked off the runner, as Green Hope pitched to the minimum of 12 batters in 4 innings.

The game didn't count, but coach Miragliuolo decided to include the game stats for season totals. More important will be Green Hope beating Panther Creek on Friday.
